Try finishes on a kitchen, bathroom or living room, then sketch the layout of your room. When you like it, send it to Corey and he'll call you to talk it through.
Your room is empty. Tap an item on the right to add it, then drag it into place.
How to measure your room. Drag items to move them; they snap to 3-inch steps. With the keyboard, Tab to an item and use the arrow keys (hold Shift for 1 foot), R to rotate and Delete to remove. The gold edge shows the front of each item. Sizes are typical starting points, not final dimensions.
How to measure your room
All you need is a tape measure, a pencil and paper, and your phone's camera. No app to download. Measure in feet and inches and round to the nearest half inch. Plan on about 20 minutes for a kitchen or bathroom.
- Sketch the room. Draw a rough outline of the floor from above, as if you were looking down from the ceiling. Mark where the doors and windows are. It doesn't need to be neat or to scale.
- Measure each wall. Go around the room clockwise and measure every wall from corner to corner, about 3 feet off the floor (above the baseboard and below the counters). Write each length on its wall in your sketch.
- Measure the ceiling height. Measure from the floor to the ceiling in a couple of spots. Note any soffits, beams or sloped ceilings and how far they drop.
- Measure doors and windows. For each one: its width, its distance from the nearest corner, and for windows, the height from the floor to the bottom of the window. Note which way each door swings.
- Find the plumbing and gas. Measure from the nearest wall to the center of the sink drain, the toilet (center of the toilet to the side wall and to the wall behind it), the shower valve and the range or gas line.
- Note what's on the walls. Mark outlets, light switches, vents and radiators, the electrical panel if it's in the room, and anything else that's hard to move.
- Measure what stays. If you're keeping cabinets, appliances or fixtures, measure their width, depth and height.
- Take photos. Stand in each corner and take a photo toward the opposite corner, then add close-ups of the sink, stove, toilet, shower and any problem spots. Photos help Corey catch things a sketch can miss.
Enter the room's width and length above and place the items where they are now (or where you want them). Then send the plan to Corey with your sketch and photos. Corey confirms exact measurements at the site visit before anything is ordered or built.

These free tools from the manufacturers we use let you upload a photo of your room and try real products on it. They open on the manufacturer's website. Take a screenshot of what you like and attach it when you send your design to Corey.
